Card Readers

The magnetic card reader / writer ( encoder) range from DED offers a variety of products and technologies from simple magnetic card

readers to untis capable of reading and (encoding) writing data.

Magnetic cards can store sufficient data on either hico or loco magnetic tracks to be used for loyalty, membership and access control

applications. However, smart cards can store considerably more data and are more secure, making them ideal for electronic purse or loyalty

applications where a value is stored on the card.

Combined with magnetic card reader technology, the visual card systems from Star Micronics gives the added benefit of being able to

communicate visually with the customer, making the cards ideal for loyalty, appointment and visitor ID applications.

MR-2000 / MR-3000 Series Metal Cased Magnetic Card Reader

The Posiflex MR-2000/3000 series are a range of magnetic card readers with a

heavy-duty die-cast metal case.

Available with either a keyboard wedge or RS232C Serial interface, they feature

a built-in decoder, bi-directional manual swipe card read, status LED and

programmable output format. Connecting the units to the PC is straightforward,

making the unit simple to install and use.

The power for the keyboard wedge unit is taken from the PC via the interface

cable so there is no need for any additional PSU. The RS232C unit requires an

additional 5VDC PSU.

MSR Series Magnetic Card Reader

The MSR series are a range of compact magnetic card readers designed for

Retail, Hospitality, Data Logging and Security applications. They are available

with an RS232 Serial, Keyboard Wedge or USB interface. The standard models

read magnetic tracks 1 and 2 although single and triple track versions are also

available.

The RS232C Serial version requires an external PSU whereas the Keyboard

Wedge and USB versions take their power directly from the host.

MSE-750 Magnetic Card Reader / Writer

The MSE750 is a magnetic card reader and writer with an RS232C Serial

interface capable of both Lo-Co (300 Oe) Hi-Co (4000 Oe) encoding. The unit

can write and then verify single, double or triple track data on a card in just one

swipe of the card.

Three LED indicators and an audible buzzer are fitted to indicate a number of

operations including power, error and correct read/encode. Both DOS and

Windows based software are supplied for programming the MSE630 including

functions such as Lo/Hi-Co switching.

The MSE750 magnetic card reader is fitted with a 9 way 'D' type connector

which also houses the jack socket for the PSU.
